Our 2024 keynote speaker, Marjorie Phillips!

Marjorie Shaw Phillips, M.S.Pharm., R.Ph., FASHP, CIP is Pharmacy Manager (Clinical Research and Residency Program Excellence), Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center at Augusta University and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice (Without Salary), University of Georgia College of Pharmacy.  A member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, her roles include clinical research pharmacy, serving as a Biomedical IRB Chair for the university and supporting the program directors, residents and preceptors for all pharmacy residency programs at AU Medical Center, five of the seven of which are operated in conjunction with UGA College of Pharmacy. 

Marjorie received her Pharmacy and Masters in Hospital Pharmacy from University of Florida College of Pharmacy and 2 years of residency training at UF Health Shands Hospital. National roles include FDA Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee, USP Safe Medication Use Expert Committee, ASHP Chair of the House of Delegates, ASHP Board of Directors, and she is a Past President of GSHP.  Among her more than 50 publications is a chapter in The Essential Guide to Pharmacy Residency Research.

Most pertinent to this SERC presentation, Marjorie has been an ASHP Residency Accreditation Practitioner Surveyor for 15 years and just completed seven years on the ASHP Commission on Credentialing (COC).  She was Chair when the COC approved the new ASHP Accreditation Standard for Postgraduate Pharmacy Residency Programs, harmonizing the PGY1 Pharmacy, PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy, PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy ad PGY2 Pharmacy Accreditation Standards into a single Standard that establishes criteria for the training of pharmacists to achieve professional competence in the delivery of patient-centered care, leadership, and pharmacy services.
