Preceptors

This residency conference is run by preceptors for our residents and the profession.  Your active participation as a moderator and/or evaluator is needed to continue the collegial environment that has been created since the early 1970s. All preceptors are required to serve as a moderator or evaluator.

FAQ’s

What is the difference between an evaluator and a moderator at SERC?

Evaluators attend the presentation, gather evaluation forms and provide the presenter feedback immediately after their presentation. Moderators introduce the speaker, assure that the session stays on time and overall facilitation of each session.

How do I submit my name?

The moderator and evaluator schedule is created in mid-March, based on residency programs scheduled to present and preceptor registrants. Preceptors who register for the conference will designate their interest in being a moderator, evaluator or either.

Is experience required to serve as a moderator or evaluator?

Can I designate a day, time or specialty to moderate or evaluate a session?

Will I be scheduled to moderate or evaluate during my residents presentation?

April 27-28, 2023

On April 27th, we will have a welcome message from the SERC committee chair at 8:00am followed immediately by our keynote speaker in Ballroom EF at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. After that,

Evaluators: You will need to be present in your scheduled room during your scheduled session. The moderator/evaluator schedule will be sent out via email and posted under the documents tab in SCHED. You will provide immediate feedback to your presenters, encourage other attendees to ask any questions they may have for the presenters, and complete online evaluation forms for the presenter.

Moderators: You will need to be present in your scheduled room during your scheduled session. The moderator/evaluator schedule will be sent out via email and posted under the documents tab in SCHED. Your job is to keep order within the room and remain on schedule. If a presenter is being asked a lot of questions and their 3 minutes is getting close give a reminder. Only allow presenters to present at their designated time on the schedule. Do not allow a presenter to go early if another presenter is not present during their time. This will allow others to plan which presentations they would like to see. Each presenter gets 12 minutes to present and 3 minutes for Q&A.
